Amazing Race Visits Smitty's

Last week a local youth group did their own Amazing Race. 

Smitty's was stop number 8 on their list of challenges. 

Their task:

 One person from each team had to eat a whole

 KING tenderloin in order to receive their next clue!

It was a fun challenge. Here are a few pictures we snapped while working. =)

Skydives Lands in Des Moines

Smitty's recently had a visit from the WGN News show "Skydives." It was such an honor to be recognized in this way.  

According to the "Skydives" FAQ on their website. The concept for the show was created by Lee Abrams who enjoys flying for food trips. They are flying to different cities all across America and eating at a few locations and reviewing them. 

They flew into Des Moines last month to do the filming for our episode. Here are a few pictures we snapped while they did their "work."

We will let you know as soon as they post the video. It is scheduled to air next Sunday on WGN.

Smitty's for Kids

For the first time ever Smitty's now has a......

Kid's menu! 

We are thrilled to offer kids meals now. 

Our new kids menu includes items that are kid friendly like hotdogs, hamburgers, and grilled cheese.

Each kids meal comes with a side of french fries or potato rounds (tator tots) and a drink!

Smitty's has been published in many books and publications over the years. We will try and keep you updated on any that we find out about. Sometimes we find out from customers who come in to eat just because they read about us.

"Sandwiches To Call Our Own"

Smitty's is in the news again. The Omaha World-Herald just notified us that their writer Jane Palmer wrote an article that included us titled "Sandwiches to Call Our Own." You can read it here. 

The article features foods that the Midland states can claim to have created. Tenderloins are one of those great foods!! We are listed as one of THE places to eat a tenderloin in Iowa!!

Meet Seumus

Have you ever though you might be the biggest Smitty's fan? Sometimes I think I am. Well, we might have a new contender for the title. Meet Seumus. This daring young man tried to make Smitty's history this week. 

He challenged himself to eat 3 King Tenderloins and a small french fry in One hour. 

You heard me right. ONE HOUR! 

He was all smiles before the countdown started.

I am very sorry to admit it, but he didn't make it. We were all cheering him on. It was just a tad bit too much for one stomach to handle. He finished about two of the Kings and a half a fry. He promised he would be back to try the challenge again. We will keep you updated on the next attempt. 

Member of the Month

We just found out that Smitty's is being honored by Sam's Club. They chose Smitty's to be their members of the month for June. They took a picture last week of Smitty's and it will be posted outside their doors for the whole month. So if you are a Sam's Club shopper make sure you look for our picture!!
